IEC presents Honorary Life Member Award

2015 Award Recipients – Gene Gifford, Carroll Howard, and Andy Nantz

During the association’s annual meeting, March 26, 2015 at Joe T. Garcia’s Restaurant, three individuals received the Honorary Member Award for their long-time work in the electrical industry, IEC Fort Worth/Tarrant County Chapter, IEC of Texas and IEC National association. Congratulations to these deserving award winners:

Gene Gifford

Gene

Gene, a licensed master electrician, began his career in the electrical industry in 1949 with Ajax Electric. He worked steadily in the electrical industry for other electrical contractors until 1978 when he started Gifford Electric, Inc. Gene was an active member of the IEC Fort Worth/Tarrant County board of directors for many years and served as president in 1985 and 1986. In 2011, at the age of 77, he sold the company to David Babcock and retired to run his ranch.

Carroll Howard

Carroll Howard

Carroll, a licensed master electrician, began his career in the electrical industry in 1957. He started working in Odessa for Forman Electric and worked steadily in the electrical industry for other electrical contractors. He was part owner of A & H Electric until 1990 until its closure. In 2002 he re-opened Carroll’s Electric and worked there until his retirement. Carroll served on the Electrical Board for the City of Arlington for 15 years and was a member of IEC from 1975 to 1990. During that time, he served on the chapter board in all positions and served as president in 1988.

Andy Nantz

Andy Nantz

Andy, a licensed master electrician, began his career in the electrical industry working summers for his father at AB Electric. Mike was owner of Mr. Electric until his retirement in 2014. He served as IEC of Texas representative in 1978-80. In addition, he served on the City of Fort Worth Electrical board representing our chapter from 1978-1986.


Established in 1957, IEC is a trade association representing independent electrical and systems contractors. The Fort Worth/Tarrant County Chapter represents more than 120 companies in Tarrant and surrounding counties. In addition, the chapter provides a four year electrical apprenticeship program.
