Saliva Drug TestAccording to Mr. Bill Current, President of StateDrugTestingLaws.com, drug test cheating is a problem that doesn’t seem to go away. No one knows for sure, but many drug testing experts believe that as many as 10% of all drug test samples have been adulterated, switched or tampered with in some manner.

Horse RaceJoin IEC Dallas and Fort Worth/Tarrant County Chapters for our annual IEC Night at the Races on June 16th. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner while watching your favorites cross the finish line. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Races start at 7:00 p.m.

baseballIf you love Rangers baseball, join us May 13th for IEC Night at the Ballpark when the Rangers play the Toronto Bluejays.  The event will be held in the “All you Can Eat Porch” and includes a game ticket plus the all you can eat menu.

golfThe IEC Tom Jones Memorial Golf Tournament was held April 12, 2016. This was the 10th Anniversary of this tournament honoring Tom Jones, IEC Executive Director and Apprenticeship & Training Coordinator from 1977-2006. Tom passed away June 24, 2006 after a battle with Prostate Cancer.

GraduationMark your calendars! Graduation will be held June 9th beginning at 6:30 pm at Bob Duncan Community Center in Arlington. Please come out and support the fifty one graduates!

First PlaceOur chapter apprentice of the year wire off competition was held April 9th and April 23rd. It was two hard days of testing and hands on work! Congratulations to the winners on their hard work:

The PA Manufacturers’ Association found that approximately: 70% of the companies test for drugs; 19% of the potential employees did not show up for their drug tests; and 16% failed the pre-employment drug test. In 2012, about 24 million Americans aged 12 or older, or 9.2% of the population, reported using an illicit drug or abusing a prescription drug in the prior months according to the most recent survey estimates by the National Institute on Drug Abuse at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That finding was up from 8.3% in 2002.
