Wins National Awards

 Zeb Upton Wins IEC National 2011 Apprentice of the Year

Independent Electrical Contractors held its National Apprentice of the Year Competition during the Annual Convention October 11‐14, 2011 in Louisville, KY.

Twenty‐six individuals from IEC chapters across the nation competed. The competition consisted of a written exam, a wiring problem, conduit bending and a troubleshooting project. All competitors were top graduates of their respective chapter's four year electrical apprenticeship program and have worked six years or less in the electrical industry.

 

Zebulon Upton, Fox Electric, Ltd. and 2011 Graduate of the IEC Fort Worth/Tarrant County Chapter was the first place winner of the competition and named IEC National Apprentice of the Year. Zeb is a licensed journeyman electrician and was Outstanding Apprentice of the Year three out of his four years in the IEC chapter program.

 

The competition was judged by teams of journeymen, contractors, inspectors and others actively involved in the electrical industry.

 

Tutor Electrical, Inc. Wins Contractor Award

Tutor Electrical, Inc. in Mansfield won the Award of Excellence in Electrical Construction in the Commercial Construction Category for Electrical contracts amounts to $1,500,000 for their project, “Bedford Public Library” in Bedford, Texas.

 

Humphrey & Associates Honored With Community Service Award

Humphrey & Associates received the IEC Community Service Award which recognizes an individual IEC member company, who as a team has provided a valuable community service. The award recognized their very successful “Broken Clays Tournament and Auction” which benefits Young Life Camp across the north East Texas areas. Young Life Camp is committed to helping adolescents grow in their faith and allows them to experience camping, rock climbing, rappelling, water sports and may other exciting opportunities they might not have had the chance to experience. Through 2010, Humphrey

& Associates donated $250,000 to the Young Life program.

 

IEC Fort Worth/Tarrant County Chapter Received Chapter Excellence Award

Our Chapter received the brand new Chapter Excellence Award presented to chapters who:

 

• truly set the standard for IEC values and Integrity

• other chapters look to for innovative ideas

• has staff that go above and beyond to ensure chapter success and customer service

• collaborate with others to improve IEC overall
